Footprints is owned, managed and operated by Julie Allan.
Julie was awarded a degree in Podiatry with distinction in 2003. Since that time she has been a self employed podiatrist. Before starting Footprints Julie worked in private practice at the Dunfermline Podiatry Centre (Fife) as an associate podiatrist. Julie is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. This regulating body exists to ensure that the public are protected from practitioners who offer services similar to that of a podiatrist (or other healthcare provider), but who have not met the standards required or had the training necessary to considered safe to practice. For further information please refer to their website (see below) or ask your GP. All practitioners who work for the National Health Service must also be registered with this organisation.
Julie Allan continues to keep skills and knowledge current by attending various CPD (Continued Professional Development) courses. She is also a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and the Scottish Podiatry Private Practice Forum. Both of these organisations have web pages with a plethora of useful information about foot care, surgery, sports injuries and nail problems (to name a few examples). Listed clearly by topic, these pages provide an invaluable resource for practitioners and patients alike.
Julie has always had an active interest in holistic health care and in 2011 completed training in Reflexology. This is a compression massage applied to the feet to provide deep relaxation, stimulate circulation of blood and lymph, improve energy flow and promote general well being. The basic principles are similar to those for acupuncture and acupressure. The treatment continues to gain credibility for its effectiveness, particularly for ‘stress related’ illness, migraine, IBS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, etc. However, it could be argued that many other more ‘serious’ or recognized illness is stress related.
"Last summer I made my first appointment with Julie at Footprints to have my toe nails dealt with as they had become hard, encrusted and discoloured and due to the over growth they were also painful. A friend recommended Julie to me and within a few appointments my feet were in the best condition they had been in years, I continue to see Julie every 8 weeks for a file and tidy up and I can honestly say I look forward to my appointment every time as she is efficient and friendly. This summer will be the first I have purchased and worn sandals in a long time and would highly recommend her to anyone"
